On Oct. 1, for the first time in more than 20 years, the Truesdale/dell/del families met at Bethany Baptist Church for a reunion. They came, arms full of food, photographs, computers, and memories to share with each other. They began arriving before noon, eager to meet relatives that they had heard of but never met except via e-mail and phone calls. Many had never known they had living relatives other than their immediate kin.

At 1 o’clock, we all sat down to a great meal along with fellowship amongst all the attendees. After lunch, we compared family histories and wandered through the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery to find many of our relatives from both parents’ families. We discovered that it does not matter which way we spell our Truesdale name as we all descend from John Truesdale from Ireland. The one question everyone had as we prepared to leave was “Are we going to do this next year?”  Absolutely, yes we will.

Attending this reunion were Geraldine T. Moran of Kershaw,  Joseph Faulkenberry of Kershaw; Michelle Young and her son, Michel of Westville; Dominique T. May of Camden; Rallie T. Turner and her husband, Charles, of Shelby, N.C.; Mack and Jean Sims of Camden; Patsy Sims of Camden; Brigitte T. Berg of Lugoff; Rob and Julie T. Garrison of Columbia; Dennis Cox of Marietta; Jason P. Oxandaboure and children of Camden; Marie T. Lauricella and Sara of Camden; Diane T. Williams of Westville;  Catherine T. Oxandaboure of Camden; Jean Francois Truesdale of Camden, Brenda Barrett of Westville, William Truesdale,  his wife, Ursula, and daughter, Sabina of Camden,  Judy Nation of Waycross, Ga, and Gary Williams of Martinez, Ga.
