John Elliott "Jay" Reeves Jr.

Funeral service for John Elliott "Jay" Reeves, Jr., of Columbia, will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Crossings Community Church. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Friday October 28, 2011 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel.

Jay died Thursday, October 27, 2011. Born July 8, 1971, in Anderson, SC., he was a son of John and Trudy Duckett Reeves. "Chief" as most people called him, was a 1989 graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School; he was on the baseball team and played trumpet in the marching band. He was a graduate of Presbyterian College where he also played the trumpet in the band and was a pitcher for the Presbyterian Baseball Team. Jay was owner of Reeves Distributing and was known by many as the "Little Debbie’s Man". Jay was a member of Crossings Community Church. He loved music, playing golf with his friends, and following baseball, but no matter where his job would take him, his family was always first.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Reeves; his parents, John and Trudy Reeves of Lugoff; son, John Elliott "Tripp" Reeves, III of Columbia; daughter, Janna Reeves of Columbia; brother, Will Reeves and his wife Robin of Lugoff; nephews, Dalton and Sawyer of Lugoff; niece, Ava from Lugoff; mother-in-law, Diane Turbeville of Columbia; brother-in-law, Robb Turbeville and his wife Cara of Wilmington, NC; brother-in-law, Paul Turbeville and his wife Olivia of Alexandria, VA.
