Of the people, by the people, for the people

The election in November is going to determine what kind of government and government philosophy we are going to have in 2011 and 2012, and probably beyond that.

I think many of us can agree that our government in these coming years needs to be both smaller and more accountable to the citizens. We need transparency from our school districts and local governments, and a state and national government that does not continue to grow far beyond the size in which it was intended.

I was disappointed to hear that Democrats have nominated Ms. Mia Butler for State House District 79. I have learned in my research that Ms. Butler has spent a good portion of her career as a registered lobbyist procuring funds for government clients. These actions not only grow our bloated government, they also make us wonder if she will represent her constituents, or those who pay or have paid her for her dealings with the government.

One candidate from right here in Kershaw County promises to be our champion for the smaller and more accountable government that we need. I have had a chance to hear Sheri Few and read her positions on the issues, and I am convinced she will deliver this kind of small accountable government to us.

I am supporting Sheri Few on November 2nd for State House District 79.
