As a public school educator for almost 50 years I am very concerned about the future of public education. We need someone in the governor’s office who is really concerned about education in this state.

According to an article written by Gina Smith, The State, Sept 30, 2010,” she quoted Tim Pearson, who is Nikki Haley’s campaign chairman, as saying that Mrs. Haley “is focused where the overwhelming majority of South Carolinians want her to be, namely, on how to create jobs, limit the size of state government, and improve our schools.”  The day before this article was written, an article in The State paper, written by John O’Connor, stated that Rep. Haley missed every Education Committee meeting during the last legislative session.

How can someone be focused on improving education and still not attend a single meeting of the Education Committee, of which she is a member?
