The marketing class at Lugoff-Elgin High School is selling hoodies to show off school spirit and to put the skills acquired in the class to a practical use.

The hoodies are navy blue pull-overs with the Demon mascot and “Lugoff-Elgin Demons” on the front in red and white. On the back is the interlocking LE logo also in red and white. The 100 percent cotton hoodies come in sizes extra large, large, medium and small and sell for $30.  The hoodies are available now and will be sold during lunch to students and during school-related functions to the general public.

Through the years, the marketing classes have produced many products for sale. This year the class decided to combine the winter weather with school spirit. Not only is the class selling “great hoodies that show off our school, but we’re learning first-hand how much work it takes to produce, promote, and sell an item,” students said.  They worked together to come up with an idea and created and tallied surveys. The final step was to develop a design. Students are investing their own money and sharing the profits, so along with developing marketing skills, the class is learning how to budget and invest wisely.

“I can’t wait to get my hand on one of those hoodies!” said marketing teacher Derek Berry.

“I am so glad my class designed this. This is one of my favorite designs that I have ever seen!” said Lugoff-Elgin High School student Shannon Lester.
