The Lugoff Garden Club celebrated its 30th anniversary in September. To honor the anniversary, members of the club gathered at Sylvia Varn’s Lugoff home to commemorate the occasion. Varn is the only active founding member. The club was founded 30 years ago with 10 charter members. Since then, it has grown to 22 members. The club participates in many gardening projects around the Lugoff community, filling, watering and caring for public area flower beds. The club also donated an owl sculpture to the Camden branch of the Kershaw County Library in honor of Master Gardener and fellow club member, Margot Rochester. The owl stands in the library’s courtyard. In one picture, founding members include (far right, first row, from left) Jane Jackson, first president; Anne Quigley; Merry Bradley; (second row, from left) Diane McLaughlin; Silvia Varn, the hostess for tea; (third row) Judy Brock and Judy Baxley. After tea, all members posed for a group picture.
