The King Haiglar Garden Club held its monthly meeting Monday, Nov. 14, at 3:30 p.m. Eve Montgomery hosted the club at 1902 Carriage House Lane. Nancy Fisher and Frances Hendrix co-hosted.

The arrangement theme for November was "Bountiful Harvest." Arrangements were allowed to include fruits and vegetables. Members attending were encouraged to bring their favorite horticulture specimens for judging. The informative program, "Winter Container Gardens" was presented by Woodleys Garden Center. They had some beautiful and exciting techniques to share.

The horticulture specimens and arrangements were judged by Nancy Wylie, Michelle Herod, Julie Trott, and Marietta Gordon. Garden Maintenance volunteers for November are Margie Land and Nancy Fisher.

November Garden Tips

1. Take root cuttings of woody shrubs and evergreens, such as azaleas, holly, and hydrangea.

2. Use up gasoline from equipment not used in winter and disconnect spark plugs.

3. Plant bulbs for indoor forcing.

4. Keep leaves and pine needles raked off grass.

5. Cut back mums to within a few inches of soil when blooms fade.

6. Go by and enjoy the new plantings that the club has done. They are at the Main Post Office, County Courthouse, and the Archives!!
