Caring for the environment

Did you know that when you litter, that it harms the environment, and that it can kill animals, too? It is imperative that we stop littering and to put trash in its proper place before there is nothing left to enjoy in nature.

First, littering hurts animals. For example, someone drops a plastic bag on the ground and they don’t realize that they dropped it until they are 10 minutes away, and they most likely won’t go back for it.  Then a deer comes along, its foot get tangled up in it, and gets injured. When somebody throws a tin can on the ground, another animal may get hurt if it gets cut and the cut gets infected.

Second, the trash gets into the ocean and it chokes the sea animals. For example, a plastic bag may strangle a sea lion, a sea turtle, manatee, or some other fish. A six-pack soda can-holder can injure a penguin and other birds.

Third, littering also causes pollution. Just like an oil spill, chemicals in trash can get into the air and water and it hurts the environment. Pollution can affect both our health and the health of animals.

Cleaning up the world would not only make people and animals happy, but it would also make God happy, too. Genesis chapter 1 tells us that God created the earth and that He has commanded us to take care of the earth. In Genesis chapter 2, verse 15 says, “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” So stop littering and help to clean up the environment.
