Camden High School and the Kershaw County Recreation Department are presenting the second annual Michael Kohn Baseball Camp on Saturday, Dec. 10 at American Legion Park in Camden.

In addition to Kohn, organizers are hoping to have another Major League player helping out with the clinic. The announcement as to the name of that player will be made once his appearance is confirmed. Members of the Camden High School baseball staff will also provide instruction during the course of the clinic.

The three-hour session will run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The cost is $25 per camper. In the event of inclement weather, the old Continuous Learning Center gymnasium, located on York Street in Camden, will be used.

Registration is currently taking place through the KCRD, whose office is located on the corner of Laurens and DeKalb streets in Camden.

To reserve a space at the clinic and to register by phone, please call the KCRD at 425-6009 or 425-6010.

Campers are asked to dress with baseball pants and/or sweat pants and will need to have tennis shoes if the weather is bad, so they can participate in drills in the carpeted gym. If campers have their own catcher’s gear, they need to bring that as well.

Campers will receive a certificate of participation which can be used for an autograph session at the end of the camp. There will also be Los Angeles Angels paraphernalia for sale as well as some Camden High School spirit items.

Kohn, a Camden native and a 2004 Camden High School graduate, was selected by the Angels in the 13th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft after closing out his college career at the College of Charleston as a reliever.

The 6-foot, 200-pound right-hander has appeared in 38 games for the Angels over the course of the past two years and he enters the 2012 season with a 2-1 record with a pair of saves in three save opportunities for the Halos.
