There will be a one-day softball tournament to benefit the family of Camden High School senior baseball player Josh Lund, which lost their house and possessions due to a fire last spring.

The tournament will be played on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Larry Doby Athletic Complex in Camden. The rain date is Sunday, Dec. 4.

There are two different portions of the tournament. There will be a men’s division and a Co-Ed tournament.

The cost is $100 per team and teams will be asked to provide their own 44 core 400 compression softball. There is a four-game guarantee for each participating squad. The championship team from each division will be awarded a $100 with each player on those teams receiving a plaque.

The event will be played under NSA rules and there will be a one-hour time limit for each game, save for the championship contests. There will be a maximum 10 runs allowed per inning until the final inning. There will also be a mercy rule in affect (15 runs after three innings; 12 runs after four and 10 runs after five.) There is also a 1-up rule for home runs.

A concession stand will be available throughout the day and barbecue will be sold from Ronnie’s Ribs while baked goods will also be for sale. Baked Goods will be available. There will also be a Corn Hole Tournament while college football fans will be able to watch the day’s games, which will be projected onto a large screen.

Teams must sign up by Thursday, Dec. 1, and may do so by calling the Kershaw County Recreation Department at 425-6009 to register their teams(s).

Anyone seeking further information on the tournament may e-mail their inquiries to Camden High head baseball coach Denny Beckley at:
