Former Camden resident Vicki Bourus will speak at the first meeting of the Family Resource Center Dec. 1 at the Robert Mills Courthouse, 607 Broad Street, at 6 p.m.

Tickets are available at the center at 1111 Broad St., Suite 3A, Camden, and at the door the day of the event. Single tickets are $25 and couples are $40. The event will include wine and hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and music by Brian Heyward.

“The annual meeting will give us an opportunity to highlight all that we’ve accomplished this year in terms of intimate partner violence prevention, community partnerships, services for adult and child victims,” said Rosalyn Moses, executive director of the Family Resource Center. “We will also have the privilege of recognizing key volunteers and unveiling exciting new plans for the future.”

Bourus is retired past director of the South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Bourus is a licensed, Master’s prepared social worker, and has worked extensively with victims of domestic and sexual violence and child abuse. She served on the Domestic Violence Task Force of the SC Criminal Justice Academy in 1987-88, and served as Chair of the Governor’s Domestic Violence Fatality Review Task Force in 2004. She received a “Woman of Achievement” Award from the SC Commission on Women in 2007. Bourus was recognized in 2011 by both the South Carolina House of Representatives and the South Carolina Senate for meritorious and outstanding service on behalf of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
