Once again your Lugoff-Elgin Girl Scout Troop No. 968 is reporting on our activities. We have had a very good year and a wonderful summer with four of our girls, Amber Mitchell, Jessica Black, MacKenzie Saverance, and Olivia Lamphere, all earning their Bronze Award. These girls worked hard over the summer making and painting birdhouses, wind chimes, and a bird bath for the residents of Springdale Nursing Home. The girls did a wonderful job and all the people are really enjoying their endeavors.

As we start this upcoming year we already have a number of service projects to put into the community.
March 12 marks the 100th birthday for the Girl Scouts of America. Our troop is planning on doing several projects to celebrate this wonderful day.

With the upcoming 100th birthday, we need the help of our community. We are looking for Girl Scout alumni. If you are alumni or know anyone who is we would love to hear from you. We are trying to find out how and when the Girl Scouts started here in Kershaw County and some of the things that were done in the past. If anyone can help us with this, contact Ileana Arvelo at 1-803-775-6017 or e-mail

Thank you once again for supporting the Girl Scouts of Kershaw County.
