A celebration of life service for Joann Daley “Jo” Lackey will be held Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, November, 26, 2011 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Camden Building Fund, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020, The American Cancer Society, C/O Gail Kirkland, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, SC 29078 or a charity of one’s choice.

Born in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Bell Daley and George Daley. Joann was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Camden for over 44 years. She had a great love for people and especially young people. Joann received the S.C. Recreation & Park Society Central District Lay Award in 1985 in recognition of her work with Camden area youth. She retired from the Kershaw Country School District in 1997.

She is survived by her husband, Richard T. Lackey Sr.; son, Richard Lackey Jr. (Suzanne) of Charleston,WVA; daughter, Ruth L. Reeder (Dennis) of Camden and especially blessed with three wonderful grandchildren, Emily Lackey Rawlings (Chris) of Charleston, WVA, Kathryn Reeder Cooper (Mitchel) of Lancaster, Thomas A. Reeder of Camden and his very special friend Lauren Branham; great grandchildren, Thomas and William Rawlings and one sister, Virginia Payne of Charleston. She was predeceased by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.
