LFD to the rescue

On Nov. 29th I was on my way home for lunch and saw the Lugoff Fire Department in front of my neighbor’s house. After parking in the road and walking over to where my neighbor was standing I found out that, fortunately, the house was not on fire but a scene was taking place that looked like it should have been on television.

My neighbors were having a huge pine tree removed from their front yard that was brushing against the roof of their house. All morning a crew had been working on the tree to remove its branches. One of the men was at the top removing branches and was in the process of cutting the top of the tree when something happened and he could not move. I never heard the reason except he had gotten sick. From what I could see, another worker climbed the tree and tied him to it so he would not fall and someone else called the fire department.

When the Lugoff Fire Department arrived, it was amazing at the rescue they performed. No one had to talk to each other. They immediately knew what had to be done and worked so well with each other that words did not have to be spoken. They were attentive to the situation and the condition of the man in the tree. They spoke with him and let him know that he was in good hands. They handled the situation with professionalism. When it was over and they had the man safely on the ground and I saw that he was all right I wanted to shout for joy.

I am so proud of the Lugoff Fire Department and I want to tell them “Thank you for all you do for us and our community and our schools.”
