Camden First UMC plans 100th birthday celebration for ‘Daddy Mac’

Camden First United Methodist Church will celebrate a very special birthday of a very special church member during its Sunday morning worship and a reception to follow.

Thomas E. “Daddy Mac” McLester, who as a teacher, coach, mentor and friend has touched thousands of lives, will mark his 100th birthday Dec. 22. That milestone will be celebrated during the church’s 11 a.m. worship service and a reception to be held in the fellowship hall immediately after the service Sunday. Family and friends are invited. Camden First United Methodist is located at 704 W. DeKalb St., Camden.

Those wishing to honor McLester with a gift are encouraged to consider a donation to the Thomas E. McLester Scholarship Fund. For the past two years, three deserving students have received scholarships in honor of McLester. Donations may be made Sunday through collection envelopes available at the church or by mailing them to the Thomas E. McLester Scholarship Fund, in care of Camden First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 606, Camden, SC 29021.
