Kershaw County equestrians and shoppers supported Kershaw County’s Food for the Soul through a special Thanksgiving promotion offered by The Tack Room. A $5 donation earmarked for Food for the Soul earned shoppers a discount on purchases during the special promotion, said The Tack Room’s John Cushman (left). The holiday drive raised $1,500 for the soup kitchen and recently opened emergency homeless shelter. Presenting the check Wednesday to Food for the Soul Director Fred Ogburn (right), Cushman said the charitable fund-raising effort was “the right thing to do, especially at this time of year, and the customers agreed.” Ogburn said the support of such donors and volunteers is invaluable to Food for the Soul and its mission. “A donation like this is so versatile, especially since we’ve opened the shelter,” Ogburn said. “We can use it for food, toward utilities … it can be used in so many ways.”
