Pearl Tiller

Funeral services for Pearl Godwin Tiller, 93, of McBee, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Union United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Steven Todd, Rev. Charlie Short, Rev. Barbee Parsons will officiate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family received friends Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church, 4379 Union Church Road, McBee, SC 29101.

Mrs. Tiller, widow of Daniel Herbert Tiller, died Sunday, January 1, 2012. Born in Kershaw Co., SC, she was a daughter of the late Cleve and Winnie Bell Godwin. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church, a charter member of the United Methodist Women, and the Lore McCoy Sunday School Class.  She was the last survivor of the Cleveland School Fire in Camden, SC. Mrs. Tiller was the matriarch of the Tiller family and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne (Joanne) Tiller of McBee, SC; daughter, Mary Gainey of Bethune, SC; sister, Betty Owens of Camden, SC; brother, Cleatus Godwin of Camden, SC; daughter-in-law, Judy Tiller of McBee, SC; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Don Tiller; brothers, Rev. Troy Godwin; sisters, Annie Mae Brannon, and Nita Beach.
