UWKC wins $7,000 donation

United Way of Kershaw County was awarded a $7,000 donation from Dr. Energy Saver Columbia after it won an Internet voting contest in December. Dr. Energy Saver Columbia, owned by William Cantey, is part of the home improvement industry.

“My wife, Catherine, and I are very excited to be able to give back to our community and help others. We decided since we were going to be sharing this money with local charities, we might as well develop a fun competition creating charity awareness with local homeowners and businesses. We want this to be the kickoff of more contributions to the local community,” said Cantey.

Canty (right) presents the $7,000 check to Dr. Frank Morgan, the United Way campaign chair. Those present for the presentation included (from left) Pam Spivey, Beth Morgan, Janis Gardner, Margaret Lawhorn, Marie Sheheen, Molly Kornegay and United Way Director Donny Supplee.
