The marketing class at Lugoff-Elgin High School will host its second annual dodge ball competition from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9 in the larger gym.

This year’s “Demonball 2: Back in Black” uses black lights (ultraviolet lights that illuminate neon colors and create a glow-in-the-dark effect) and various black light accessories in the competition. The winning team will receive $100 in prize money and a trophy.

Tickets are $4 at the door. Five-people teams are $25, with an extra $3 fee for an alternate. Money and registration forms are due by Nov. 3. Participation eligibility includes high school students and adults. Contact for registration information.

L-EHS senior Haley Anthony said, “I think the Demon Ball Tournament is a great idea to help out the marketing class, and I think it would be a lot of fun! I know I’ll be there!”

Additional features include a jukebox and event T-shirts for $10 with designs and colors selected to contrast with the lights, and concessions. Last year’s event , simply called Demonball in honor of the school’s mascot, was a large success, and this year’s event is projected to raise school spirit, gain community involvement and help students learn about marketing and the business world.

A project of the third block marketing class, students will invest their money in the event, and depending on the level of success, will either receive a profit or lose money.

The marketing class is available for more details and interviews from 11:30 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. Monday through Friday by calling 438-7414, ext. 5681. The class can also be contacted by e-mailing
