Regular season. Post-season. It does not seem to matter to the North Central High volleyball team.

Entering the state playoffs with an unblemished 14-0 record, the Lady Knights steamrolled Calhoun County in three games in Monday’s class A state tourney opener played at The Castle in Boonetown.

Andy Johnson’s troops stay at home to take on St. Joseph’s tonight in a 6 p.m. second round contest.

As for Monday, NC stomped the Saints in easy fashion, winning 25-12, 25-7 and 25-8. At the same time, St. Joseph’s was having an easy time of things with Brashier Charter School, winning 25-9, 25-20 and 25-13.

April Barrett led the NC attack as she doled out 31 assists and had six service aces from her setters’ post. Kelle Phillips had 10 kills and a pair of ace while Elexis Ross had eight kills to go along with four aces. Madeline Pate contributed four kills and a pair of aces with Samantha Snipes sending down three kills with an ace.

Cassady Robinson had three kills with Tiffany Rogers and Ashley Rogers having two and one, respectively. Karli Watkins and Hannah Gainey each had a pair of aces.
