Retired U.S. Coast Guard Captain Kenneth A. Long, 78, of Camden, died Friday, January 27, 2012. Memorials may be made in Mr. Long’s memory to the American Heart Association of SC Memorials & Tributes, P. O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058 or Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group 4186 Fernandina Road, Columbia, SC 29210 or Arthritis Foundation-Carolinas Chapter, 200 East Woodlawn Road., Suite 156, Charlotte, NC 28217

Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late P. Frederick Long and Mary Allgaier Long. Mr. Long retired from the Coast Guard after 30 years of service. He then went on to instruct at the Camden Military Academy and the Applied Technology Education Center. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Allentown.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine Angstadt Long, two sons, Alan Brian Long of North Royalton, Ohio and Wayne Curtis Long of Austin, Texas, two grandchildren, Nichole Lizak of Austin, TX and Brian Christopher Long of North Royalton, OH; a brother, Frederick Milton Long of Gibson Island,MD.
