Brand awarded national leadership recognition

Clemson University junior Kathleen Miranda Brand, of Lugoff, was recently presented a national leadership award at the Kappa Delta National Leadership Conference.

She was named a recipient of the Corre Anding Stegall Collegiate Leadership Award. Named for former National President Corre Anding Stegall, the honor is presented each year to the top echelon of Kappa Delta student leaders, based upon high academic performance, exemplary leadership within the chapter, on campus and in the community. These awards are the highest individual honor that Kappa Delta gives to undergraduate members. Awards are presented each year at Kappa Delta's National Leadership Conference or National Convention.

The eligibility requirements are: to have held one or more Kappa Delta chapter offices; to have held one or more campus leadership positions; to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, on a 4.0 scale; and to be returning to college the following year as a senior.

A 2009 graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School,  Brand is a junior at Clemson double majoring in political science and history. She served as vice president of operations for the Kappa Delta Sorority, Epsilon Tau Chapter, where she was nominated for the National Corre Anding Stegall Collegiate Leadership Award. She is also director of public relations for Clemson’s Student Alumni Council. The Student Alumni Council is the leadership council for Clemson’s Student Alumni Association. In addition, she serves as vice president of academics for Order of Omega, an honor society for members of Greek organizations. The organization recognizes juniors and seniors who have exemplified high standards in the areas of scholarship, leadership, involvement within their respective organization and within the Greek, campus and local community. Members are selected from the top 3 percent of Greeks at each institution. 

Brand is the daughter of Kemper and Kathy Brand.
