A Camden High School student died in a single-car accident on Haile Street just outside Camden early Sunday morning.

Kershaw County Coroner Johnny Fellers said Ryan Wyatt Simpson, 17, died of blunt force trauma to the head after he crashed on Haile Street near Copeland Circle, which is outside the Camden city limits.

“He went off the left hand side of the road and struck a tree,” he said.

Fellers said the accident occurred around 12:45 a.m. Sunday.
