Relay For Life of Kershaw County is just 10 weeks away! We’re getting ready for this special time of celebrating survivorship, remembering those that lost the battle and committing once again to fight back until a cure is found. We want YOU to join us in our efforts to turn up the heat on cancer.

RFL of KC will be held on Friday, May 11 at Lugoff-Elgin High School stadium from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Relay is the signature fundraiser of The American Cancer Society. Our goal is to have at least 50 fundraising teams to help us reach our goal of $150,000. Anyone can form a team. Start your team today by getting eight to 15 co-workers, neighbors, friends and family registered online. If you’ve been touched by cancer, make the commitment to fight back by forming a Relay team. There’s still time to register a team online at www.relayforlife.org/kershawco. The team registration fee is just $10 per person and includes your team participant T-shirt. If you’re new to Relay, make plans to join us at our two final team meetings on Tuesday, March 13 and Tuesday, April 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Family Life Center located at 24 Ward Rd. in Lugoff.

Also, you don’t have to wait until the team meeting to get registered or pick up supplies. We need you to start fundraising now. For your convenience, fundraising forms and supplies are available online under the Event Announcements link at www.relayforlife.org/kershawco and at all three MPCU branch offices in Lugoff, Camden, and Elgin. You can also pick them up at our monthly meetings. By the way, if you form a team with 12 or more members you’ll receive a free 24-can soft sided cooler at our next meeting.

If you’re unable to form a team, support the fundraising efforts by becoming a sponsor. All sponsor have a sponsor sign displayed at the event. We need you to help us reach our goal. For more information, call Gail Kirkland, event chair at 438-3483.
