Local student collects bikes to help less fortunate families during Christmas

Each year Outreach Bicycles for Needy Children continues to advance the cause of donating bicycles to underprivileged children.

This year, Alesha Sanchez Hudson, 11, has a goal of providing 100 bikes to children in need. Alesha began participating in the community ministry in 2006 when she was 6 years old and as donated more than 150 bicycles to needy children.

Names of families are selected through the Department of Social Services (DSS). Alesha is accepting donations to help her meet her goal. Cash donations can be deposited at any First Palmetto Savings Bank in the account of Outreach Bicycles for Needy Children. To donate a bicycle, call 438-0145. All bikes collected will be given out at Unity United Methodist Church in Lugoff at 1 p.m. Dec. 18
