Chamber approves competitiveness agenda

The Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce unanimously approved the S.C. Chamber of Commerce’s 2012 Competitiveness Agenda. The competitiveness agenda is a grassroots effort crafted to reflect the concerns of local chambers’ legislative priorities. 

Executive Director Liz Horton said during a previous meeting that Kershaw County’s endorsement will make the state chamber more powerful with support from local chambers.

The agenda covers issues from infrastructure to tax reform in an effort to create a better business climate.

In other news:

• The Chamber is gearing up to post four new videos to their website. There will be a “Welcome” video, as well as tourism, relocation and member benefits videos. Links to the videos can be sent via email to people interested in relocating to the area and will be sent in addition to relocation packets the Chamber already sends out, Horton said. 

• The board estimated that a crappie tournament, held this past weekend, will bring in approximately $50,000 dollars.
