Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of 303, sponsored by Lyttleton St. United Methodist Church, took part in the Sunday worship services Feb. 14, known as Scout Sunday.

February is the anniversary of Scouting.

The pack’s committee chairman and Wateree District Commissioner, Jim Bradshaw, has been helping organize the scouts for the past eight years to take part in the Sunday worship services.

“It is part of Scouting and we need to let the people know and understand that we follow the Scout Oath and Promise; On My Honor, I will Do My Best, To Do My Duty, to God and My Country,” Bradshaw said. “These are part of Scouting principal’s that each scout lives by; Duty to God; To respect the belief’s of each denomination no mater who they are and what they believe in, one God. I have been in scouting for 48 years and I believe it is the best youth organization in the world today.”

Bradshaw presented his grandson, Hampton West, with the God and Me award. It is a program through P.R.A.Y. for the church to provide opportunities for worship, for study, for service, and for fellowship. The P.R.A.Y. program requires young people to study scripture and then design service projects to put into action what they have learned. Hampton has completed the first of four parts, God and Me. The award features a four-colored cross. The four colors converge into a point to create an “X” at the center of the cross. “X” is the first letter in the Greek word for Christ. The four colors correspond to the four levels in the P.R.A.Y. series.

Troop 303 Committee Chairman Walter Smith told the History of the pack and Troop.
