The National Steeplechase Museum will hold a Carolina Cup Eve Party on the back lawn overlooking Springdale Race Course on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The Museum traditionally invites its members, the general public and visiting horsemen to mix and mingle at the historic setting.

This spring the invitation is for a casual outing with a DJ spinning country and classics for a little dancing in the grass, a southern style picnic supper and frosty drinks. The Museum will be open throughout the evening and several new exhibits are in place. Among these are panels depicting the history of the five steeplechase horses that have won both the Carolina and Colonial Cup Races. This exhibit was made possible by the generous support of owner, Sonny Via, whose horse Good Night Shirt is among the five.

Tickets for the event are $25 per person, $10 for children under 12, and vouchers will be sold for the bar. Soft drinks will be offered at no cost. All net proceeds benefit the National Steeplechase Museum which is the only institution in the country dedicated to steeplechaseing and the horses and people who made its history. Reservations by phone or email are requested by contacting the Museum at or by calling 432-6513.
