Luther Martin

Funeral service for Sgt. Luther Martin, 79, of Camden, will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. James Coleman will officiate.

Sgt. Martin died Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Born in Lincolnton, Ga., he was the son of the late Pete and Beulah Martin. He served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed sports, fishing, and gardening.

Surviving are his children, Ivory Thompson, George Thompson, Rosemary Thompson, Patricia Stukes, Lucinda Howell, Jerome Martin, and Chris Martin; sister, Frances Benson; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Louneil Jenkins and Mary Alice Bussey.
