Child Crappie fishing tourney set for Saturday

The inaugural Child Crappie Fishing Tournament will be held on Lake Wateree on Saturday, April 14.

The event will begin at 7 a.m. or, at safe light, from Clearwater Cove Marina. All boats and anglers must be in the weigh-in line at noon, also at Clearwater Cove.

There is a $25 entry fee per two-person team. There is a 10-fish limit. After the event, hot dogs, potato chips and a soft drink will be served to the participants.

Expenses resulting from the holding of the tournament must be paid from the prize money. The remainder of the money will be awarded to the winners.

Teams must include one adult and one child, no older than 16. All S.C. Fish and Game regulations apply to the event with fishing being caught by sporting means only and the partners must stay together at all times. No alcoholic beverages are allowed during the tournament, the honor system will be in effect, all children must wear a life jacket and anglers may also fish off the bank or from a dock.

Pre-registration is being conducted at 521 Bait and Tackle (803) 669-9505, Clearwater Cove Marina 432-5315 or may be mailed into tournament director Bill Childers at 1460 Kershaw Highway, Camden, SC 29020 or call (803) 609-9505.

Teams may register the morning of the tournament at Clearwater Cove Marina from 5:30 a.m. until 7 a.m.
