Accuride plans to add at least 25 new jobs with the $8.73 million investment and expansion at its Hengst Boulevard facility. The manufacturer produces commercial vehicle components.

Accuride, a supplier of commercial vehicle components, will expand its operations in Kershaw County.

The company plans to invest $8.73 million to add two new machine lines for aluminum wheel production, generating at least 25 new jobs, according to the Kershaw County Economic Development Director Peggy McLean. McLean revealed Tuesday that Accuride is “Project Blue,” and that it is committing to the additional jobs as part of a fee-in-lieu-of-taxes (FILOT) agreement with the county. Kershaw County Council was scheduled to vote on third and final of the FILOT agreement Tuesday night.

McLean said the company has already initiated workforce training programs through ReadySC, a division of the South Carolina Technical College System, and is also currently hiring.

County Council Chairman Gene Wise said he was “excited” to see the continued development of industry in the county.

“This is the result of the supportive pro-business climate we enjoy in Kershaw County,” Wise said.

Gov. Nikki Haley described the expansion as another “win for one of our state’s rural areas.”

“We celebrate Accuride’s decision to invest $8.73 million and create 25 new jobs in Camden,” Haley said. “South Carolina continues to provide the business-friendly climate where companies of all sizes can grow and prosper.”

Accuride President and CEO Rick Dauche said he was very pleased the company was growing operations in the county.

“Our investment helps to ensure we have the right production capacity in place where and when our customers need it, at a higher standard of quality and dependability,” Dauche said.

Accuride acquired all of the assets of Forgitron Technologies in June 2011, including the company’s 80,000- square-foot manufacturing facility located at 30 Hengst Blvd. in Camden.

Headquartered in Evansville, Ind., Accuride’s products include commercial vehicle wheels, wheel-end components and assemblies, truck body and chassis parts, and other commercial vehicle components.
