A Mass of Christian burial for Gilyong Maria Kim, 67, Columbia, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at St John Neumann Catholic Church with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, 4219 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia, SC 29223.

Mrs. Kim died Monday, April 16, 2012. Born in Jinnampo, Korea, she was a daughter of Gyeongchil Ma and Jeong Suk Ryoo.

Maria started her career with nursing and teaching in Korea and eventually moved to the United States with her husband, where she devoted her time to caring for her husband and three girls and also started a long-lived career of investing in real estate. Maria was a 33-year Columbia resident and an active member of the Ft. Jackson Officer's Bridge Club. Her passions were gardening, golf, cooking, knitting, music, and above all, spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Dr Gunil Gregory Kim, daughters, Kathryn Wright, Elizabeth Kim, and Mary Kim; her grandchildren Chase, Charlotte, and Jessica and mother Jeong Suk Ryoo.
