The Camden Police Department (CPD) invites Camden residents to a series of community meetings in May. Camden Police Chief Joe Floyd said the purpose of the series is to give citizens of different Camden neighborhoods the chance to voice concerns unique to their communities.

Each meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and last approximately two hours, Floyd said. They will be held at the following times and locations:

• Tuesday, May 8 -- Boykin Park Community, Abundant Life Church fellowship hall, 804 Laurens St.

• Thursday, May 10 -- Springdale Area Community, S.C. Department of Mental Health, 2611 Liberty Hill Road (S.C. 97)

• Tuesday, May 15 -- Black River Community, Rhame City Arena, 517 Bull St.

• Thursday, May 17 -- South Broad Street Community, Rhame City Arena, 517 Bull St.

• Tuesday, May 22 -- Rectory Square Area Community, Camden Elementary School, 1304 Lyttleton St.

• Thursday, May 24 -- Kirkwood/Dicey Creek Community, Kirkwood Community Center, Carlos Street

The series will end at 7 p.m. May 31 with an Open Forum Response Meeting at Camden City Hall, 1000 Lyttleton St., in the Camden City Council chamber on the second floor. Floyd said that meeting will give the CPD a chance to respond to the overall concerns, suggestions and requests presented by citizens during the various community meetings.

Those who are unable to attend any of the community meetings are asked to email their concerns to lawenforcement@camdensc.org, or directly to Floyd at the CPD, 816 West DeKalb St., Camden, SC 29020.
