A memorial service for Mrs. Johnnie B. Jones, of Columbia, was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Francis Burns United Methodist Church, 5616 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203 with the Rev. Dr. Thomas J Bowman, Sr. officiating.

Mrs. Jones died Thursday, May 17, 2012. She was happily married for 64 years to the late Mr. Craven L. Jones. She loved cats of all kinds, big and small, wild and domestic and took great pleasure in learning all she could about cats and even played with baby lions. Johnnie also enjoyed to travel and was lucky enough throughout her life to do so extensively including trips to Africa. In Africa she went on a safari, traveled to China where she visited the Forbidden City and walked to Great Wall and saw Hong Kong. She loved traveling to Italy and especially seeing Michelangelo’s statute of David. She was a member of Francis Burns United Methodist Church where she enjoyed worshiping with fellow members.

Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Jones, son Larry Jones and wife Velma and four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was loved by many family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband and sister, Charlotte Duckett. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel is assisting the family.
