When Roger Smoak called his friend and Chapin High boys’ head tennis coach, John Rodgers, to congratulate him on the Eagles’ third consecutive AAA state championship, the veteran Bulldog boss heard the phrase which would make any coach feel good, at first, before cringing after thinking about it for a while.
