Chesterfield scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning to overtake Kershaw County Northern 5-4, in the opening game of the District 5 Dixie Youth baseball tournament being played in Pageland.
Chesterfield used a line drive to the gap in left center to drive in the final two runs in the walk-off victory.
Christopher Butler gave a strong performance in his third mound start of the post-season for KC Northern before leaving the game in the latter innings.
Offensively, Cam Holley and William Cobb contributed heavily toward the KC Northern offensive attack.
KC Northern, the Sub-District A champion, fell into Tuesday’s scheduled elimination game between the loser of the Pageland vs. Bishopville contest. The winner of that game will play tonight at 6 p.m. against the loser of Pageland vs. Bishopville and Hartsville contest in another elimination game.
The five-team event continues through Friday.
