NC pair earn all-state laurels

NC TEAMMATES KELLE PHILLIPS (2) and April Barrett (4) were both named to the class A All-State volleyball team.

   North Central volleyball player April Barrett achieved a trifecta when she was named as the Region 3-A player of the year. That honor capped the senior hitter’s being tabbed as a Class A All-State team member and being selected to play in the North-South Volleyball All-Star matches to be held on Nov. 18-20 at Erskine College in Due West.

   In addition, Lady Knights’ senior hitter Kelle Phillips was voted onto the Class A All-State team.

   This past season, Andy Johnson’s Lady Knights went unbeaten in both their Region 3 and regular seasons, fashioning a 14-0 record. The conference title was the fourth in as many season for the team. NC lost to St. Joseph’s in the second round of the state tournament, ending its season with a 15-1 ledger.
