Local cook wins first place for cake at S.C. State Fair

Jenny Elyand of Lugoff took home a first place ribbon for her cake (pictured above) in the S.C. State Fair Home and Craft Cake Decorating contest. Elyand competed in the amateur division and won a $37 for her efforts. This is the first cake she has entered in a contest. “I’ve been making cakes as a hobby for a while, but I never did anything like this,” she said. “It really wasn’t as hard as it looks.”
