Pairings have been announced for the Camden Shrine Club Football Jamboree.
The traditional curtain-raiser for football in Kershaw County is set to kick off its 37th edition on Friday, Aug. 10 at Camden’s Zemp Stadium. The three mini-games, consisting of one half of football each, begin at 6:30 p.m.
The night’s opener will have former conference rivals Buford and North Central squaring off. As opposed to the past two seasons when they met, both teams will play as AA members in 2012 as NC  was bumped up from the class A ranks after last season and will play as a member of Region 3-AA. Buford, which made that jump in 2010, remains in Region 4-AA.
In game two, Andrew Jackson will tangle with Lugoff-Elgin in a game featuring two programs which had some memorable in-season match-ups in the past. AJ is a member of Region 4-AA while the Demons, after two seasons playing in the Pee Dee-based Region 6-AAAA, will have less traveling to do for conference action for the next two seasons in being moved to the Midlands-centric Region 4-AAAA.
A pair of former Region 6-AAA foes meet in the nightcap when Crestwood hooks up with host Camden. While the visitors from Sumter remained in Region 6-AAA, the Bulldogs were shifted into Region 5-AAA, joining five league foes from in and around Columbia.
Tickets for the Camden Shrine Club Jamboree are priced at $6 each and will be only be available at the gates the night of the event.
