Joshua Croft, grandson of Mrs. Margie Hunter of Lugoff, recently completed officer field training at Maxwell Air Base in Montgomery, Ala.

This is training that all Air Force officers must undergo in the process of seeking commissioning as a U.S. Air Force officer. He earned an expert marksmanship award. Croft is a recipient of a U.S. Air Force academic scholarship and is a rising junior at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Va., where he is majoring in Meteorology. He is a member of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and the National Collegiate Honor Society.

Croft is the son of Ronda Hunter Croft-Champion and the late Chalmers Croft  both originally from Camden. Joshua will return to Blackburg following his training and resume his studies as a POC (professional officer course) in the USAF ROTC at Virginia Tech.

Air Force Airman Charlton M. Hampton recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Hampton completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Hampton is the son of Charles and Edith Hampton of Camden.

He is a 2004 graduate of North Central High School.
