King Haiglar Garden Club

The King Haiglar Garden Club will hold it’s first meeting for 2012 – 2013 Monday at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be hosted by Judy Smith at 1819 Hobkirk Court in Camden. Co-hosting will be done by Ellen Vaughan and Frances Hendrix. The garden club meets once a month to enjoy good fellowship and learn more about gardening and horticulture.

The theme of the month is "Off To A Good Start." Members are encouraged to bring horticulture specimens from their gardens. Specimens should be in place between 3 and 3:15 p.m. for judging. This month’s judges are Marguerite Glasgow, Julie Trott, Mary Ellen Gordon and Virginia Isler. Garden Maintenance will be done by Cathy Moss and Mary Acken.

The meeting will focus on delivery of yearbooks and Horticulture judging guidelines. The program will be presented by Carol Meckstroth and Carolyn Brown.

Camden Garden Club

September is here. The kids are back in school, and the weather is getting cooler. Ahhh, fall. The summer has been a doosy. Hot, humid and plenty of rain! Quite a change from the last few summers, lawns are soft, lush and the prettiest green, annuals and prennials look like they are on steroids. Camden is a beautiful and colorful town and we are blessed to be a part of it.

Monday, the Camden Garden Club will host its first meeting of the new year at the home of Kate Denton. The house is warm and cozy with lots of windows and views of Colonial Lake. Her gardens will be spectacular and a perfect setting for the speaker, Howard Wallace. His program will be about his landscaping creativity and inspiring ideas as he discusses Wavering Place Garden and Nursery.

Before the program, members will bring in specimens and arrangements from their own gardens. These will be judged this month by Nancy Campbell, chairman; Judy Dill; Nancy Langston; and Lee Walker and the results announced.

Hostess chairman, Susan Witlowski, will have help from Meta Beard, Cathy Clark and Joy Scully to provide everyone with lots of delicious treats and snacks as they catch up and reunite after summer break.
