Support existing rec facilities

Camden is a special small town for families, churches, and public schools. The basic building blocks for a fruitful education are the involved families, church youth organizations and mentors.

With the support of taxpayers we have neighborhood public schools offering sports programs to all--tennis, baseball, soccer, football and basketball. These public facilities are available to all on a signup and reserve schedule. (This is not well publicized.)

Our county rec center is enthusiastically supported by parents and populated with youngsters ' participation. In the summer swimming is very competitive. What gets folks “off the streets” is getting involved in what we already have in place. The only thing missing here would be the attitude and desire to get involved in publicly supported facilities that run efficiently and are open to all. Take advantage of what we have now!

Camden does not have the demographics to support another (third attempt) sports complex. If you pay taxes now, your taxes will increase substantially to support a YMCA that Camden taxpayers cannot afford. Be aware that the YMCA is a fee-based membership program. If an applicant cannot afford the fees, Camden taxpayers will be required to subsidize that shortfall.
