Blaze catches fire to win title

The SC Blaze girls’ 8U travel softball team won the 2012 Ashlie Pipkin Memorial Softball Tournament held earlier this month in Sumter. The tourney honors the memory of Ashlie Pipkin, a passionate softball player who suddenly passed away at the age of 11 from complications as the result of Swine Flu in 2009. The tournament is held each year in her memory and all proceeds benefit Camp Ashlie. Four of the girls pictured on the team are from are from Kershaw County, and they are Jordan Rabon, Aubrey Rabon, Hailey Mock and Victoria Williams. Here is the team photo after they won the event. Pictured holding the championship plaque is Jordan “JoJo” Rabon. The second row is made up of, from left, Taylor Jacobs, Aubrey “B” Rabon, Victoria “Tori” Williams and Abby Fisher. Pictured on the third row are Hailey Mock, Haley McCoy, Olivia Burroughs, McKenzie Shannon, Caleigh Barrett and Sidney Easters. The coaches’ row is made up of assistant coach Jason Mock, assistant coach Jeremy Rabon and head coach Russell Brown.
