The Kershaw County Farmers Market will bustle with extra energy Saturday in celebration of its annual Farm Day.
From 8 a.m. to noon the regular vendors will be joined by artisan vendors selling wool, pottery, soap, glass and wood wares. There will be live farm animals from Old McCaskill’s Farm, and bees from Bell Honey to observe. New and antique farm equipment will be used to demonstrate activities from farms of today and yesterday. There will be carriage rides, and Jansen Cox will bring his heritage breed horses for youngsters to ride. A quilting demonstration will showcase a timeless talent. And Jeff Clark will entertain visitors with live music.

In addition to the market’s regular bakery items from Mulberry Market, Smokin’ and Grillin’ will cook breakfast omelets and French toast, and coffee will be available. At mid-day, Smokin’ and Grillin’ will change up the menu, offering barbecue plates for $6 each.

Cole crops are now in season, so visitors to the market are encouraged to pick up Thanksgiving broccoli, cabbage, Swiss chard, turnips and collards fresh picked from the farm. The market also regularly features farm fresh eggs, milk and meats.

“Several producers sell vegetables, eggs and meats that travel less than 30 miles from farm to your plate,” said market officials. “ Be sure to bring the whole family to the Kershaw County Farmers Market on Farm Day Nov. 20 to meet your local farmers and give thanks to where our food and fiber comes from.”

The farmers market is located in the city of Camden lot behind First Community Bank. There is no admission charge for the market or Farm Day.
