The importance of the Encourager

Life is a journey that was never meant to be traveled alone -- we would never make it if that were the case. We all need that someone who will never forsake us; that person that will be there until the end of the passage, through the pleasant weather and the storms. This person is what I like to title, the Encourager. These are the people that would rather face the obstacles with you, than leave you to endure life’s treacherous and precarious paths on your own. Just like Frodo had Sam, we would never complete our journeys without the aid of a true and loyal friend. Without someone to encourage us along the way, we would surely become weary and fall, without hands close by ready to pick us up and carry us the rest of the way. No matter what we do or where we go, true Encouragers are sorely needed, and they should be appreciated for their immense part in helping us become who we were meant to be. Whether it be a friend doubling back to help you run that last bit of the race, encouraging you with every step, or someone who just lets you know they are there to face the approaching storm with you, remember those times. They may not be able to carry the burden for you, but they can carry it with you and you, in turn, can help carry another’s. No matter how heavy a burden may be, it’s never too heavy when the load is shared by another.
