For the second time this season the Camden High girls’ tennis team defeated first year school, Westwood, by a score of 6-0.
CHS senior Katie Tiller made quick work of Carolina Stewart winning, 6-0, 6-0, to give the Lady Bulldogs their first win of the night.  “Katie played with a high level of intensity.  She didn’t shut out Stewart earlier in the year so doing so this was a good improvement for her,” said CHS head coach Stephen Sutusky.
Clarke Allen was the next Camden player off the court after defeating Anna Bramlette, 6-1, 6-0, at number four singles.  Allen’s usual doubles partner Virginia Lackey also won in convincing fashion, 6-0, 6-2, at number three singles. “Our normal doubles girls got the opportunity to play singles and really stepped up their game.  For both of them to gain some singles experience will mean a lot for future years,” said Sutusky.
Sarah Anne Semple and Serena Hayes earned the start at the number two doubles position and won, 6-1, 6-1. Second singles player Madison Hudson defeated Taylor Bronson in straight sets by identical 6-3 scores.  “Madison is playing well right now for us and she’s really ending the season on a high note,” said Sutusky.
At number five singles, junior Kensey Stephens split her two sets with Jacqueline Carter, 6-4, 4-6, before prevailing in the tiebreaker, 10-4.
“Kensey had an up and down match, but managed to come from behind in the first set to win it before losing the second.  She had some calls go against her, but rebounded nicely and dominated the tiebreaker to clinch the shutout for the team,” Sutusky said.
