Crimestoppers and the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) are hoping someone will recognize a male suspect who robbed a Lugoff convenience store at gunpoint on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The man entered the Kangaroo, located at 840 U.S. 1 South in Lugoff at approximately 5 p.m. and showed the clerk a handgun. He then went around the counter and took money from the cash drawer. The suspect also took the clerk’s purse containing her ID and wallet.

The clerk stated that he raised an orange mask he was wearing, revealing his skin color. She described him as having dark skin and clean shaven.

After taking the cash and purse, the man exited the store and ran into the nearby First Citizen Bank parking lot. There, he got in the passenger side of a White Chevrolet HHR, a type of multi-purpose crossover vehicle, driven by an unknown white male. The vehicle reportedly has a tail light out. The suspects drove out of the lot and headed toward U.S. 601.

Other witnesses said that the masked man was a black male.

Anyone with information leading to the arrest of the person could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000. Call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or text “TIPSC” plus your message to CRIMES (274637) or visit
