Funeral service for Joseph Darling “J.D.” Baker Jr., 78, will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The Rev. Dwight Mabry will officiate.  The family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Mr. Baker died Friday, December 07, 2012.  Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Joseph Darling Baker Sr. and Theola Myers Baker.

Surviving are his son, Joel Baker (Janice) of Camden; daughters, Sheila DeBruhl (David) of Kershaw and Deborah Howey (Mike) of Ada, Mich.; sisters, Minnie Lee Thompson and Louise Thompson; step-children, Tina Gardner and Dewayne Gardner; grandchildren, Jessica Mays, Jodie Howey, Lee DeBruhl, Alicia DeBruhl, Patrick Baker, Brandon Baker, and Scott Eddings; 6 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Patricia Anne Clontz (Jerry).  He was predeceased by brothers, Henry Baker and Frank Baker.
