The family of Joe Christmas is sad to announce his passing on December 23, 2012 at the Kershaw Health Center. Joe was 88.

Family and friends will be received at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on December 28, 2012 from 1:00-2:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 28, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Camden, SC. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate the service, with interment to follow in Quaker Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Joe was born December 13, 1924 in Camden, SC, where he lived his entire life. He was the son of the late James Edward Christmas and Beulah (Price) Christmas. He was predeceased by sisters, Ruth C. Marshall, Leila C. West, Wilma C. Rowell; and brothers Clarence E. Christmas, Thomas Alvin Christmas, and William H. Christmas.

Joe was retired from the Christmas Grocery Store (a family business), and later DuPont. He loved sports and was an avid tennis and basketball player in his earlier years. Joe was a 60 year Mason and a member of Camden Masonic Lodge #29.

Singing with the Silvertones at First Baptist was his love, and he received many spiritual blessings from this group. He loved gardening. Beautiful flowers and plants were in and around his home.

Joe will be missed by his many family members and friends.

The family wish to thank Dr. F. N. McCorkle and his staff and the staff of Kershaw Health Center, Kershaw Hospice, and the Karesh Wing Rehab Facility for all the love and support given to Joe.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
