Funeral services to celebrate the life of Samuel L. Cassidy, 80, of Lugoff, SC will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff Elgin Chapel, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. Rev. Donnie Dixon will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 5-7 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home Lugoff Elgin. Memorials may be made to the Camden Shrine Club, or to the Jamil Temple.

 

Samuel Lafayatte Cassidy, widower of Mary Frances Cassidy, grew up in Patrick, SC. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Thelma Cassidy. He was retired from DuPont. He operated the Lugoff Marine Service on Hwy #34, in Lugoff from 1965 until 2006. He earned his private pilot license and raced boats. He was a member of the Jamil Temple and Camden Shrine Club, and he was also a Mason, with Camden York Rite Bodies. .

 

 

Mr. Cassidy is survived by daughter, Glenda Cassidy Ingram (Robert Howard), granddaughter, Nicole Cassidy-Warren (Trey); great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Warren; sisters, Vivian C. Lewis (Fred) of West Columbia, SC, Eunice C. Newman (Steve) of Angier, NC; brothers, Charles Cassidy (Tina) of Patrick, SC and Robert L. Cassidy (Becky) of Concord, NC; many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Jackie Jackson. He was predeceased by his son, Samuel L. “Sammy” Cassidy , Jr.  The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Tidewater Hospice.
